Almost as heavy as the super-rare Bulova Beta21 'Alienhead' (*klikk here) and with some design-similarities -- most obviously the left-sided setting-crown -- but made in many more examples than the Bulova. And even more, both are at the same risk as strange-looking outsiders: the Omega is one of the most-smelted watches in horology and so became one of the rarest Beta21 in the last decades. And given its importance this might be a bit surprising but of course: a Rolex ref5100 or a Patek ref3587 is just rarely smelted even though they are quartz-watches, too. But even these (Rolex & Patek) were destroyed for the gold by the most prestigious dealer-names in horology...
The Omega ElectroQuartz here is one of the few presented in April 1970 at the Basel Fair -- having a low serial number and a dial without a Constellation-print. So, one of the first Swiss quartz-watches and probably one of the most important Omegas, when you dont exclude electronic watches from your horological canvas dogmatically.
