Vacheron Constantin Patrimony, 1st Automatic Calatrava: Rare & Important Bumper cal477, Split Lugs

Sold

More than 70 years old and in astonishing and original condition. This historical and horological relevant Vacheron is a disruptive watch in the companies epic history -- the oldest still existing watch company in the world, by the way: their first automatic winding movement in a vintage Patrimony / Calatrava-like 18K yellow gold case.

Vacheron in the 1950s: Before they never made a automatic winding watch and thereafter most of their important timepieces were supplied with a self-winding movement. Historical.

The aesthetic, very reliable and precise working cal477 bumper automatic movement is tangible & audible when its rotor weight hits the spring bumpers -- a fantastic experience. On top of this fine movement sits the beautiful ivory-colored dial with yellow gold applied hour index markers and four hand-cut arabic numerals. Superb! The hands appear to be untouched and are original to this beautiful historical V&C. An important timepiece that stands out.

The iconic and unmistakable case with the "split" lugs appears to be in excellent condition and is probably unpolished -- more than 70 years old.

All this is garnished by the VC box and the Extract of the VC Archives: Rare & Relevant.

We are very proud that we can offer not only this cal477 bumper Vacheron but also the two other case-types that were used: Vacheron ref4906, ref4465 and ref4466 -- milestones for one of the most respected brand.
