Mirrolex: Rolex King Midas

WHY IT IS IN OUR MUSEUM? It is a Genta-Design from outer space and Wilsdorfs Rolex from and for the future. Ah, and because Rolex made just 144 whitegold King Midas (the original one, ref9630 and not the later Cellini ref3580 and following) between 1962 and 1972 and in this finishing probably not more than 10 -- if at all. I have seen three (this incl) in more than 10y and it is a decoration to any (Rolex-) museum / collection -- although most Rolex-collections have to do without them...

1961, the Midas-Series was Hans Wilsdorfs last project: "The closer one comes to his end, the more immortal his products have to be." Heavy, stable & solid gold-case & -bracelet with a strong connection to the past (Midas-theme) and a strong grip to the future (design & "eternal metal": gold) topped with Rolex' first usage of the "ever-lasting" sapphire-crystal. This Mirrolex was made in 1967 and has a serial below 300.
