Rare & Special: Ladies Rolex Princess Midas, Whitegold Bracelet- / Cuffwatch

Rolex Princess Midas: Rare & Ladies Bracelet- / Cuffwatch

WHY WE LOVE IT: Because it is a nowadays such an outstanding and unusual watch made by Rolex. In this condition exist for sure less than a handful -- if not it is a piece unique in this amazing condition. I have never seen a similar or better one and just two of this model.

Amazing Rolex Princess Midas (Whitegold) from 1961 according to its serial number and our research and books. The smallest of the three-watch Midas-Series: King, Queen and Princess -- with the King and Queen weighting 200g and the Princess approx 150g.

Of course the relevant 1st series: When Rolex Midas was a standalone series in the Rolex oeuvre and not a later one when it became a cheaper (and lighter) thing and part of the Cellini series.

The watch is for sure unpolished and eventually unworn -- no stretch and no significant signs of use or wear, just some micro-scratches from storing and handling. In this condition the watch, which was made between 1961 and 1963 in probably less than 20 examples, only and just a handful (literally) in whitegold, is probably unique. Fresh to the market.

Between 1962 and 1972 Rolex manufactured 144 King Midas in whitegold. The Rolex to be gifted: Elvis Presley for sold out shows; John Wayne for a blockbuster; Sir Jackie Stewart for the 1969 F1-Championship; Rene-Paul Jeanneret for being Hans Wilsdorf right-hand; and many more: every Rolex Midas tells a in depth-story by itself; even without having a quirky engraving on the case-back and a missing bezel (there simply is none);

Between 1961 and 1963 Rolex made probably less than 30 Queen Midas (ref9904: 200g) and the manufacturing of the smallest of the Midas-watches, the Princess Midas (ref9903: 150g) ran from 1961 to 1962 and resulted in probably not more than 20 pieces (yellow- & whitegold).

Regarding the price, let me put it like this: It is impossible to find a better preserved example of this Rolex made in the early 1960s in no more than 20 pieces. And so it is ok if you buy your girl a Datejust -- a fine watch, also.
