Rare & UltraThin: Secret Liberty-Coin by Piaget
Piaget Secret Liberty-Coin: 10 & 20-Dollars, UltraThin
WHY WE LOVE IT: Because it is an artefact that shows the artful execution of the most important complication in watchmaking: miniaturisation, ie. ultra-thin. And it comes in the best available condition.
Ultra-Thin -- Piagets DNA since 1950s until today. The 20-USD coin-watch was one of Piagets masterpieces: made in 1972 or 1973, encased in a Liberty-goldcoin from 1904, which has a hidden pusher to open the lid and reveal the golden-dial under a flawless crystal and above the reliable- and precise-working cal9P. And it was all made in-house by the outstanding manufacturer from La-Cote-Aux-Fees: the case and the movement, the dial and the chain-connected counterweight with a 10-Dollar coin from 1893.
Highest precision case- & watchmaking by Piaget. The rare configuration with the golden sunburst-dial and coming with the even rarer holding-ring (with pusher for case opening even when mounted) and the Piaget-made chain and ringed counterweight 10-Dollar coin. Signed: dial, movement, case, watch holding ring, chain and counterweight holding ring.
The coin has some scratches at the outside (esp front) but the watch and all closures and pushers, lids are in very good and excellent working condition without dents or damages -- probably the best example around. We have seen several of these overall special coin-watches and this example is the best of them all: very good condition in all aspects and something that will not come around again so fast.
