Early Piaget Triple Calendar: 1940s
Piaget Early Triple Calendar
- Time (Hour, Minute, Small Second)
- Date (Month, DayOfWeek, Day)
WHY WE LOVE IT: Because it is one of the early complicated Piaget-watches and the blue-print for the 1980s introduced cal27P.
A rare & important Piaget from the early days of Piaget as a watchmaker, 1940s: a triple calendar with day, month, date. The similarities to the later used / 1985 introduced cal27P with triple calendar are obvious, although a moon-phase-indicator was added. But even the movement looks very similar in many aspects.
The dial was probably refurbished but overall the 18K-watch is in nice condition and of course technically everything is working fine.
The photos are from the Piaget-Reference book by "Watches & Wonders" ("Montres & Vermeilles by Piaget", by Cologni et al) and show a similar (military-)triple-calendar in steel from 1941 (page 64) and the 1980s cal27P-based triple-calendars in comparison (p. 216).
